It all costs...this weekend the deal was to get the lights up first.
First being first on our block.
Christmas lights:
My wife has a thing with outlining the house with white lights and then "berries" at all the corners and peaks. These "berries" are just a single red bulb with a green bulb on both sides.
So as soon as our team lost the interstate rivalry game, my son and I busted outside, borrowed the neighbor's ladder and proceeded to increase our power bill.
I continue to recycle strings of lights that I've been using for years and it appears that the movers really threw this box as over half the lights didn't work.
I tasked my son to replace the bad bulbs and I was busy stringing. When I'd come to a dead light after I attached them to the house I'd have him throw one up to me. After a few near misses (and death defying leans), I told him to "throw it at my face". I think the throwing advice saved a few broken bulbs and a header off the ladder.
Taking the ladder back on Sunday earned a nice comment from the neighbor..."Oh, you're welcome. Now I get to put mine up!"
